Wooden embroidery frames can be produced quickly and inexpensively in individual sizes to match the embroidery design.
Most embroiderers today favour plastic frames for their productions. It is surprising that only a very small number of standard plastic frames have to meet the requirements for the right size for the design. The rule is that the better the size of the hoop matches the embroidery design, the better the quality of the embroidery result.
Wooden frames are available in many non-standardised dimensions.

- Wooden frames offer a superior grip for thin and thick textiles and even slippery fabrics like satins or silks.
- Wooden frames with double height provide additional surface to hold fabrics tautly.
- Typically, wooden frames have longer adjusting screws. By that, the opening width of the outer wooden frame is much bigger than the opening width of a plastic frame. This characteristic simplify the hooping of thick garments like winter coats and so on.
