Magnetic tray for tools and small parts

Short description

The magnetic tray creates additional storage space directly on the embroidery machine. It provides space for frequently used tools and accessories such as screwdrivers, Allen keys, bobbins, bobbin cases and embroidery needles.

Thanks to the large magnetic sheet on the back, the tray can be attached flexibly to suitable metal surfaces and quickly repositioned when required.

Print it yourself or buy it ready-made: The magnetic tool bin is also available as a ready-printed version in the ZSK online shop. Orders are placed through a customer account for business users. This allows you to use the tray directly, without your own printing time or material effort.

The problem

Tools, needles, bobbins and other small parts are regularly needed during maintenance, setup and changeover work. At the same time, many embroidery machines offer only limited suitable storage space within easy reach.

Tools are placed on machine covers, tables or tool trolleys and then have to be searched for again later. Especially in production environments with several embroidery machines, this creates additional walking distances and unnecessary time loss.

The solution

The magnetic tray keeps frequently used tools and small parts ready exactly where they are needed.

The back panel is designed for self-adhesive magnetic sheet in A6 format. The magnetic sheet covers almost the entire back of the tray, creating a large contact surface on suitable metal areas of the machine.

The tray can remain permanently attached to one machine or be taken quickly from machine to machine during maintenance and service work.

Project data

  • Category: 3D printing
  • Difficulty level: Easy
  • Dimensions: 160 × 76 × 110 mm
  • Material: PLA
  • Magnetic sheet: Self-adhesive magnetic sheet in A6 format

Download

Download the STL file as a ZIP archive and produce the tray with your own 3D printer.

Required material

  • PLA filament
  • Self-adhesive magnetic sheet in A6 format
  • Scissors or cutter

Printing instructions

The STL file can be processed using the standard profiles of most slicers. PLA filament is recommended for this project.

Assembly

  1. Print the tray.
  2. Cut the magnetic sheet to the size of the back panel.
  3. Attach the magnetic sheet to the back of the tray.
  4. Place the tray on a suitable metal surface of the machine.

Notes

The holding force depends on the magnetic sheet used and on the condition of the metal surface. The tray is designed for typical tools and small parts required in the day-to-day operation of an embroidery machine.
