Drill Jig for the Bead Device

Short description
The drill jig supports the installation of the bead device (2 beads) on existing needle packets. It defines the exact position of the two mounting holes on the needle packet, allowing customers and distribution partners to drill the holes precisely themselves – without laborious marking and measuring.
The problem
Retrofitting the bead device requires two mounting holes (Ø 4.2 mm, M5×0.8 thread) on the side of the needle packet. The hole positions must be exact for the device to sit correctly and work reliably.
Marking out by hand from a drawing is awkward and error-prone on a mounted needle packet. Even small deviations can complicate the installation.
The solution
The 3D-printed drill jig is placed against the needle packet and guides the drill at exactly the right positions. Both holes can be drilled reproducibly and without measuring – identically on every embroidery head.
The corresponding drill-hole map (dimensional drawing for the 12-needle Racer head) is included in the download for checking the hole positions.

Printing notes
The STL file can be processed with the standard profiles of most slicers. PLA filament is recommended for this project. Ensure dimensionally accurate, clean print quality so the drill guides position precisely.
Application
- Print the drill jig and check for a clean, burr-free print.
- Place the jig against the side of the needle packet and align it.
- Drill both holes through at Ø 4.2 mm.
- Cut an M5×0.8 thread in both holes.
- Check the hole positions against the included drill-hole map.
- Mount the bead device.
Notes
The drill jig is an installation aid for retrofitting the bead device. Drilling constitutes a modification of the needle packet – we recommend having this carried out by trained technicians or your ZSK distribution partner. Protect the machine from chips and secure it against being switched on before drilling.
